On July 15, 2026, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the Canyon Lake Shores, PWS ID TX0460019, to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals, or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The public water system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by this public water system used for drinking water or human consumption purposes and has provided Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) with laboratory test results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling prior to use as of July 20, 2026.
If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact Customer Service at 830-312-4600. Water pressure has been restored to the system and all required bacteriological samples are negative. You should flush household pipes, ice makers, water fountains, etc. prior to using them for drinking or cooking. To flush, run all cold-water faucets in your home for one minute, flush automatic ice makers by making three batches of ice and discarding, run water softeners through a regeneration cycle, and replace water filters.

Turbidity by itself has no health effects. However, turbidity can interfere with disinfection and provide a medium for microbial growth. Turbidity may also indicate the presence of disease-causing organisms. These organisms include bacteria, viruses, and parasites that can cause symptoms such as nausea, cramps, diarrhea, and associated headaches. These symptoms can be particularly severe in people who are not as resistant to infections as most of the population. If you experience severe symptoms, please consult with your doctor to determine what actions you should take.
The Canyon Lake Shores, PWS ID TX0460019, failed to meet the minimum treatment technique requirements starting on July 16, 2026. Specifically, our water system had Combined filter effluent turbidity (CFE) readings above 5.0 NTU.
Due to the nature and severity of this violation, the TCEQ has required us to issue this public notice and to tell all our customers that they should boil their water prior to consumption.
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, any water that you use for drinking, cooking, or ice making should be boiled prior to consumption. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. (Be sure to let it cool before drinking it.) In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water implemented to restore normal conditions and maintain regulatory compliance.

Due to the severe flooding along the Guadalupe River, our Canyon Lake Shores Treatment Plant experienced a significant influx of debris and sediment into Canyon Lake. This resulted in elevated turbidity levels at the intake to our treatment plant. In response, and in accordance with regulatory requirements, a Boil Water Notice (BWN) was issued to protect public health.
The notice remains in effect while we work to safely reduce sediment levels and ensure the water meets all applicable state drinking water safety standards. During this time, treatment operations are continuously being monitored, and corrective actions are being implemented to restore normal conditions and maintain regulatory compliance.

Due to low pressure, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the Canyon Lake Shores, PWS ID TX0460019, public water system to notify all customers to boil their water before consumption (e.g., washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc.). Children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions.
To ensure the destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice-making should be boiled and cooled before use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.
In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the public water system officials will notify customers that the water is safe for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, the public water system will issue a notice to customers that rescind the boil water notice in a manner similar to this notice.
