Information and Updates from Texas Water Company

At Texas Water Company (TWC), we recognize the importance of keeping our customers, residents, and stakeholders informed as our region continues to grow and evolve.

Residents across our service areas have important questions regarding water supply, infrastructure, growth and regional development, and more. As discussions around these topics continue, we believe it is important to provide a reliable source for accurate information and ongoing updates.

That is why we are launching The Water Source, a recurring update focused on water operations, infrastructure, regional planning, and other topics impacting the communities we serve.

Our goal is to establish a more consistent and transparent line of communication by providing regular updates, operational information and context surrounding regional water matters.

Future editions of The Water Source will include updates related to water supply and operations, infrastructure and system improvements, regulatory and permitting processes, conservation efforts, regional planning initiatives and responses to frequently asked questions.

Additional Context Regarding Recent Communication

Following our recent water update, questions arose regarding the phrase “not intended” as it relates to the Summit Fischer wells. TWC’s use of the phrase was not attempting to indicate in any way any opportunity for future service to Broken Cedar or any new development that does not have an existing Water Utility Service Agreement (WUSA). Rather, the language was used to clarify that the referenced infrastructure considerations were related to reliability and operational improvements at Summit Fischer—not new or not previously contracted growth.

The existing wells at Summit Fischer have a capacity of approximately 1 million gallons per day (MGD). TWC is not requesting increased capacity. However, operational limitations within the existing cartridge filtration system currently restrict water production at approximately 0.1 MGD. The existing cartridge filter system is not able to treat the 1 MGD flow from the wells and limits the water production at the site. It is important to note that the proposed improvements would not increase the permitted water supply available from the Summit Fischer wells.

The referenced infrastructure improvements would allow TWC to utilize the existing 1 MGD well capacity and provide potable water from the Summit Fischer site to existing customers.

Without these improvements, TWC would need to supplement the Summit Fischer area by transporting potable water from an alternative source.

These efforts were also not associated with the creation of a new water supply.

TWC remains committed to communicating responsibly, accurately and transparently as operational discussions, infrastructure planning, and regulatory processes continue across the region.

Looking Ahead

The Water Source will serve as an ongoing informational resource for residents, customers, and stakeholders by providing continued visibility into important updates, operational matters and regional discussions.

We appreciate the opportunity to continue strengthening communication and engagement through this ongoing series.

Additional updates will be shared in future editions. Stay tuned!
