Important Notice: Boil Water Advisory Still in Effect for Deer Creek Community

Dear Deer Creek Residents,

This is a reminder that the boil water notice remains in effect until further notice. The Texas Water Company is actively working in coordination with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and other agencies to restore chlorine levels to the required standards.

The West Travis County Public Utility Agency (WTCPUA) operates a chloramine disinfection system and is required to maintain a 0.5 mg/L disinfectant residual within the Deer Creek Public Water System (PWS). We have observed residual levels falling below this requirement in the Longhorn Skyway and Linkhill Drive areas. Because the entire neighborhood is served under a single Public Water System (PWS ID TX2270049), a Boil Water Notice (BWN) must be enforced for the entire service area.

The West Travis County Public Utility Agency (WTCPUA) and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) have been informed of the situation and are working toward a resolution.

We understand the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience as we work to resolve the issue.

In the meantime, bottled water will be available for distribution at 10300 Sandy Beach beginning at 12:00 pm, while supplies last.

Please continue to boil all water intended for consumption (including drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, and washing dishes) until we notify you that it is safe to resume normal use.

We will keep the community updated as we receive new information. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Boil Water Notice for Community Public Water Systems

July 16, 2025

Due to Boil Water Notice, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the Deer Creek PWS ID TX2270049, public water system to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption (e.g., washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc). Children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions).

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.

In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the public water system officials will notify customers that the water is safe for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, the public water system will issue a notice to customers that rescinds the boil water notice in a manner similar to this notice.

Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.
